The Mitchell Gross Fund

The Mitchell Gross Fund

The Mitch fund was started by friends of Mr. Mitchell Gross, O.B.M. in his honor and merit. Mitch was a child at heart and loved children, including and especially his own. His friends created the fund to create youth chesed programs throughout Bergen County. It is our hope  that through these programs we will be making a difference in the world. A difference in the lives of those we help through the programs and a difference in the lives of those kids who are participating as the "helpers."

THE MITCHELL FUND:

Some of the activities that will be sponsored by the Mitchell Fund

Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County will immediately hire a full time Youth Director.

Some sample programs:

 1) Youth Zone/Rabbi and his Mitzvah Men  - Be part of a great   Jewish Youth Club , ages 7-12. H e lping the homeless and wrapping gifts for poor children, visting local hospitals and nursing homes and other chesed projects. A vital element of this program is that it is geared towards attracting children from non-religious homes/public schools and teaching them the beauty of chesed and Judaism. In this way the program is a win/win all the way around.

2)Teen club Part 1 Chessed projects of all different kinds e.g. visiting sick children in the hospital and bringing gifts, big brother, big sister, tutoring children in need, homework club where high school kids can help younger kids with their homework, singing in old age homes, holiday chessed, etc The main focus here is helping Teens make a difference in the world and by doing that , we make a difference in their own lives. Again this program together with it's counterpart (part 2 below) is geared not only towards Modern Orthodox Teaneck teens but teens in Teaneck High School, Dwight Englewood High, etc..who may not have a full exposure to the beauty of Yiddishkeit.

3)Teen Club Part 2:  This is a program for the same kids who attend Teen Chessed program. This program is for their growth and entertainment. Once in two weeks- Holiday parties, workshops, speakers and nightlife (evening) lounge. A give and get type program. This will help attract those teens who are currently in public schools as they associate Judaism with having fun they will be encouraged to attend more and bring friends.

The bottom line idea is that through these programs we will be making a difference in the world. A difference in the lives of those we help through the programs and a difference in the lives of those kids who are participating as the "helpers."
